From tragedy to triumph: U.S. wins gold Posted Saturday, August 23, 2008 8:58 PM ET By the Associated Press The U.S. volleyball men have captured Olympic gold for the first time in 20 years. Team USA defeated Brazil 3-1 and celebrated with coach Hugh McCutcheon, whose father-in-law had been killed in Beijing.

Scoring system

Volleyball matches are best-of-five sets. In the first four sets, the first team to 25 with a two-point lead wins. Fifth sets are played to 15 with a lead of two.
