Young swimmer aims high Christina Jones will make her Olympic debut in Beijing. The 20-year-old has been competing in synchronized swimming for 13 years, and will participate in both the team and duet competitions at the Games.

Originally called "water ballet," synchronized swimming made its first Olympic appearance at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. Seemingly effortless, synchronized swimmers must exhibit strength, endurance, flexibility and breath control, while keeping a smile on their faces.

Anastasia Ermakova and Anastasia Davydova win gold.

The only gold the U.S. has won in the event.
