Olympic Softball Teams

Eight nations, including three-time gold medalist the United States and first-time qualifier Venezuela, will compete in one round-robin tournament (see schedule) with the four teams with the best records moving on to the medal round. Teams earned Olympics berths through their respective performances at the 2006 World Championships and in regional qualifying tournaments (see table).

Basics

Olympic softball consists of one tournament with games played over a nine-day span. The eight teams in the field play each other once during a round-robin. The four teams with the best records advance to the medal rounds.
