On the last day of shooting, American Matt Emmons missed the gold medal once again when he misfired his rifle in the last shot of the men's smallbore rifle, three positions final. Emmons ended up placing fourth.

Youngest American shooter wins gold

19 year-old Vincent Hancock won the gold medal in the men's skeet event. This made him one of the youngest gold medal winners in shooting. Germany's shooting legend Ralf Schumann won the silver medal in the men's rapid fire pistol event after Ukraine's Petriv.

American Matt Emmons won the silver medal in the men's smallbore rifle, prone position event. This would be Emmons' only medal at the Beijing Games.

American Rhode wins silver in skeet; Du Li redeems herself

American Kimberly Rhode won the silver medal in women's skeet event. Rhode was a gold medalist twice in women's double trap, which was eliminated after Athens. Also, China's Du Li redeemed herself after her poor performance in women's air rifle, by winning the gold medal in the women's smallbore rifle, three positions event.

China won it's sixth shooting medal when Chen Ying won the women's sport pistol event.

American Glenn Eller wins gold, sets Olympic record

American Glenn Eller won the gold medal in the men's double trap event. Eller set an Olympic record of 145 during the qualification round. Also, South Korea's Jin Jong Oh won the gold medal in the men's free pistol event. North Korea's Kim Jong Su won the silver, but was later suspended because of doping.

Corey Cogdell won the first U.S. medal in the Beijing Olympic Games. Cogdell won the bronze medal in the women's trap event. India's Bindra Abhinav won the first gold medal for India in the men's air rifle event.

As countries fight, two shooters embrace on podium

Their countries might have been fighting, but nothing but friendliness was shown on the podium between Russia's Natalia Paderina and Georgia's Nino Salukvadze after they medaled in the women's air pistol event.  Also, Czech David Kostelecky won the gold medal in men's trap. He finished the final round with a perfect score of 25.

Czech Emmons wins first gold of games; China's Pang gets gold

Czech Katerina Emmons won the first gold medal of the Beijing Olympic Games in the women's air rifle event defeating China's Du Li, the crowd favorite. China's Pang Wei won the gold in the men's air pistol event. American Jason Turner was eventually awarded the bronze medal in the men's air pistol event after South Korea's Kim Jong Su was suspended because of doping.
