Olympic Handball Teams

A total of 12 men's teams will compete in the Olympic handball tournament. China earned its bid as the host nation.  Germany qualified as world champion, while Brazil, Denmark, South Korea, and Egypt all won continental championships.  The remaining nations punched their Olympic ticket in special qualifying tournaments.

Team Handball

In Olympic handball, the 12 men's teams and 12 women's teams are split into two groups by random draw. An Olympic handball team's roster comprises 15 players.
