Basics

Individual and team events are contested in one-day, single-elimination tournaments in three fencing disciplines: foil, epee and sabre.  In Beijing, all of the team events besides men's foil and women's epee will be held. 

The 10 fencing events to be contested in Beijing are:

August 9: Women's Individual Sabre
August 10: Men's Individual Epee
August 11: Women's Individual Foil
August 12: Men's Individual Sabre
August 13: Men's Individual Foil
August 13: Women's Individual Epee
August 14: Women's team Sabre
August 15: Men's Team Epee
August 16: Women's Team Foil
August 17: Men's team Sabre

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event.
