Vasyl Lomachenko continued his dominance as the final American fighter fell. Lomachenko dispatched Turkey's Yakup Kilic, 10-1, to earn a chance at gold, while U.S. heavyweight Deontay Wilder lost to Italy's Clemente Russo, 7-1. Wilder's bronze was the only U.S. boxing medal in Beijing - the worst Olympic performance in Team USA's history.
