A total of 12 men's teams will compete in the Olympic basketball tournament. Argentina is the defending Olympic champion, Spain is the reigning world champion, but a resurgent United States team is the favorite.

An Olympic basketball court is shorter than an NBA one, features a trapezoidal lane and the three-point line is 20 feet, 6 inches from the basket.
